ABOUT the ARTISTS

Marisa Vumbaca and Maura Garrity both received their Bachelors of Fine Arts degrees in 1991 from the Rhode Island School of Design. Marisa studied painting and printmaking for one year at Parsons School of Design in Paris, France. Maura also studied abroad, painting for one semester at Winchester College of Art in England. The following semester, Maura continued her education at Parsons in Paris. Arriving in San Francisco in1992, they began painting murals for businesses and residential homes.

ABOUT the PROCESS

Murals and trompe l'oeil (deceive the eye) paintings are customized to a client's tastes and interests. Consideration for the architectural detailing, color and mood of the environment creates artwork that is both unique and sensitive to the style and period of the home. As a solution to difficult design areas, murals can transform a room, create a particular atmosphere, enlarge a small space or simply add a much needed focal point.

Murals are either painted directly on the wall, or at the studio on canvas/panels for installation. Every mural is custom designed so prices vary depending on detail. To obtain an estimate or schedule a free initial consultation contact us.

Marisa and Maura begin by traveling to the site to brainstorm with the client. They discuss ideas about subject, content, style, desired effect, location etc. Photos and measurements of the area are taken. Drawings are then created. Following the client's approval, a full color study is made. Once the design has been finalized, painting begins. At this stage, your imagination becomes reality…
